i>clicker for Canvas System Requirements

How Students Register their i>clicker Within Canvas

Students need to register their i>clicker, a one time registration, within any Canvas course.  Once an i>clicker has been registered in a Canvas course, it will be registered for all CSU courses taught in Canvas.  Student Instructions for registering an i>clicker.

I>clicker Instructor Set Up for CSU

  1. Download software from the link provided on the CSU i>clicker site.
The i>clicker software must be downloaded from the provided CSU link because it is configured to work with CSU Canvas.  Also, downloading the software from the CSU link provides the most current version of software that is set up for the CSU/Canvas integration.   Once on the download site, you will have the option to download software for Windows or a Mac.
  2. Follow the instructions in the Canvas i>clicker Guide to learn how to setup  i>clicker to work with Canvas.
  3. Bring the i>clicker software on your computer or flash drive to class in order to use the i>clicker software during class.
  4. Set the classroom i>clicker frequency code in the i>clicker software and on the blue instructor i>clicker remote, if using one, prior to class. If you don’t have a blue instructor remote and you’d like to use one in class as a mouse, then contact Classroom Support.
  5. Remind students to set their i>clicker frequency code prior to i>clicker polling.
  6. Verify the i>clicker base is plugged in to the computer being using in the classroom.
  7. Launch the i>clicker software and select the appropriate Canvas course.
  8. Click on Start Polling Session button to start the session.
  9. Press the Green Play button on the i>clicker toolbar or the Start/Stop button on the instructor remote in order to start the first polling question.
  10. Press the Red Stop button on the toolbar or the Start/Stop button on the instructor remote to end a polling question.
  11. Note, you can have several questions in a polling session, repeat start/stop process to navigate through the questions.
  12. To end the entire polling session for the class, close the i>clicker toolbar (click on the X to close the toolbar).

Each classroom’s i>clicker base station has been preprogrammed to operate on a specific frequency. Each room has signs posted identifying which frequency to use. Each student will need to program their i>clicker to the correct frequency before they can use it in the class.  Instructions on how to program an i>clicker are located on the back of the hand held remote.

What if my classroom isn’t set up to use i>clicker?

Please contact Classroom Support Services to request an i>clicker system be installed in the classroom. There is no charge for installations in general assignment classrooms.
